Before You Sit Down Please

The Tuesday night before the US Thanksgiving holiday had only 3 New York Islander and 1 New York Ranger prospect seeing action. So yes this will be a quickie of a report as not much happened.

3rd ranked Notre Dame with New York Islander prospects forward Anders Lee (2009 6th) and defenseman Robbie Russo (2011 4th) took on 13th ranked Western Michigan on the road Tuesday evening.

Last week Notre Dame defeated Western Michigan at home 3-2 and in the return match the 2 teams played to a 2-2 overtime tie. Western Michigan won the shootout and got the extra point out of this game.

In the CCHA, teams are awarded three points for each win in regulation or overtime, and one point for an overtime tie. Conference games tied after 65 minutes advance to a three-player shootout with the winning team receiving an extra point in the standings.

Anders Lee had a secondary assist on the game tying goal improving his numbers to 12-6-18 on the year (8th in the NCAA). Robbie Russo was scoreless on 1 shot.

In Vermont, New York Ranger prospect Danny Hobbs (2007 7th) returned to the UMass/Amherst lineup after missing a game due to an undisclosed injury but UMass lost to Vermont 2-1.  Hobbs was scoreless for the 4th straight game as UMass saw their unbeaten streak end at 4 games.

And in Kitchener, Andrey Pedan (NYI 2011 3rd) missed his 2nd straight game due to a "lower body injury" as his Guelph Storm lost to the Kitchener Rangers 6-1.

Since we do have your attention here may we ask this of you since this is the holiday season. When you sit down with your loved ones on Thursday would you please remember those who are out there defending you so far away from home?

How to Support American (Canadian too) Military Personnel

1- Participate in support organizations that send letters military stationed overseas.

2- Purchase telephone cards and donate them to organizations who mail them to overseas military personnel.

3- Participate in organizations that make and send homemade gifts such as scarves, mittens and the like. Yahoo Groups has several groups that support our veterans by making homemade items for our vets.

4- Say thank you if you happen to meet someone who is serving our country.

5- Offer to support the local military relief society. Relief societies are usually found at most military installations.

6- Invite a soldier, sailor, airman marine, or coastguardsman home for a holiday dinner. Contact the local military installation's family services unit to see if they maintain a list of military personnel interested in joining you for dinner.

7- Honor military families by contributing to the Toys For Tots program. Most military families live on limited budgets and remembering military kids during the holidays will brighten their spirits. Military and non-military families can participate in the Toys for Tots program. It is not a program for only military families.

Now more than ever we beg you to support  http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

And to those of you overseas who are serving to keep America and Canada safe

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
