Knights ride ponies to win

Tommy Hughes (OHL Images)
OK yes I know that is one weak headline but really that is what happened as Tommy Hughes (NYR 2013 UFA) and his London Knights took care of Mitchell Theoret (NYI 2011 7th) and his Barrie Colts in game 2 of the OHL Finals 4-1. Seriously it was just like what Portland did to Edmonton on Saturday night as the Knights just flat out dominated the Colts.

London scored twice in the first 1:15 of the 2nd period and this game was for all intents and purposes over. London would go on to score a 3rd goal as they rang up a 24-4 difference in shots in the 2nd period.

Just like the Winterhawks, the only thing that the Knights did poorly was on their power play going just 1 for 8 (and giving up a shorthanded goal) otherwise this score would have been much worse for the Colts. The Knight's Tommy Hughes was scoreless and a +1 for the Knights while Theoret was also scoreless but a -1 for the Colts.

Theoret might find himself back on Barrie's 1st line when the series resumes in Barrie on Monday evening after Anthony Camara got himself ejected for a charging major in the 3rd period. Camara who has already been suspended once during the playoffs might be finding himself sitting yet again.

One can understand players getting frustrated but really the message has got to get across to the players that they are only making matters worse for their own team when they take penalties like this. Especially when you have a little over 24 hours between games as the OHL just might say hold him out until we review the play.

Lost in this win might be that Barrie got a split of the first 2 games stealing away the home ice advantage from the Knights. The series is just 1-1 so before we hand the Knights the OHL championship trophy again, let's see who rides who on Monday night.

It might be the Colts who tell the Knights to giddyap.
