The defense played

Just one regular season game on the evening as Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th) and his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles took on the Charlottetown Islanders. The Islanders were missing New York Ranger 2013 4th round pick Ryan Graves (still in Ranger training camp) from their lineup but made it 2 straight wins to start the season in front of their home crowd with a 3-2 shootout win.

The Screaming Eagles earned their first point of the season with the shootout loss. Leduc is very much looking like he wants to be more active on the offensive end as he had 3 shots on the night. Other than that Leduc was quiet (read that as he stayed out of the penalty box) and didn't stand out other than having the shots.

In exhibition action, Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th) had 2 primary assists on the power play as his Niagara IceDogs ended their exhibition season with a 7-4 loss to the Kitchener Rangers. The IceDogs are in rebuilding mode which makes Graham one of the few real veterans for the IceDogs.

Viktor Crus-Rydberg (NYI 2013 5th) had a quiet evening as his Plymouth Whalers defeated the London Knights 5-1 in their exhibition finale before the OHL season starts. Crus-Rydberg will need some adjustment time coming from Sweden.

Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th) had a rough night as his Regina Pats were spanked 6-3 by the Brandon Wheat Kings. Burroughs took a tripping penalty just 1 minute into the game that the Wheat Kings cashed for a power play goal and a 1-0 lead that they never looked back from.

Burroughs besides the penalty was also a -2 on the evening. The Wheat Kings played the game without New York Islander 2013 first round pick Ryan Pulock who is still with the Islanders.

No Ranger prospect saw action on Saturday but 2013 6th round pick MacKenzie Skapski might see action on Sunday for the Kootenay Ice.
