2 games 2 wins

Just one prospect each from the New York Rangers and New York Islanders saw action on Thursday evening with both seeing their teams earn wins. First Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th) and his Niagara IceDogs spanked the Owen Sound Attack 7-2.

Graham had a primary assist on Niagara's 2nd goal of the game, a power play goal at 4:09 of the first period. Graham set up Carter Verhaeghe for a power play goal with his assist being his 4th of the season and extends Graham's scoring streak to 5 games (1-4-5) as Graham is now 2-4-6 on the season.

The win was Niagara's 3rd as they improve to 3-4-1 after 8 games.

Sophomore Cristoval "Boo" Nieves (NYR 2012 2nd) and his 10th ranked Michigan Wolverines opened their 2013-2014 season in impressive fashion upsetting 4th ranked Boston College 3-1 at home. Nieves was scoreless with 1 shot, an even and was 5-4 on his faceoffs.

Nieves is a playmaker but I think he would be more effective on the right wing than he is at center. No really happy seeing Nieves with just 1 shot as he needs to be much more active than that.

Sophomore center Steven Fogarty (NYR 2011 3rd) and junior defender Robbie Russo (NYI 2011 4th) will help 8th ranked Notre Dame open their 2013-2014 season as the Fighting Irish take on Western Michigan. Last season both teams were in the CCHA but the changes in the college hockey landscape has Notre Dame in Hockey East while Western Michigan is now in the NCHC.

The game will be televised nationally on the NBCSN starting at 8:00 PM EDT. It should be a very good matchup and a great way to kick off the college hockey season.
