Follow the bouncing team

Just 2 games involving New York Islander prospects on Wednesday night with both games involving the battle for playoff seeding in the WHL's Eastern Conference. Last night it was Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th) and his Regina Pats in Calgary to face WHL Eastern Conference leaders the Calgary Hitmen.

On Wednesday Regina had traveled to Edmonton to face Griffin Reinhart (NYI 2012 1st) and his Edmonton Oil Kings. Regina in this jumped out to a 2-0 in the first period only to surrender the next 5 goals to the Oil Kings to lose this game 5-2.

Neither Burroughs or Reinhart scored in this one but in the case of Burroughs the game was a much better performance than what he did on Tuesday night. The win for the Oil Kings was their 3rd straight as they pulled to within 2 points of idle Calgary with the Oil Kings still holding a game in hand but also the lead in the "most wins" tiebreaker.

Regina in dropping their 2nd straight lost ground to both the Brandon Wheat Kings (+2) and the Swift Current Broncos (+3) in the race for the WHL's Central Division lead. Regina also has played 2 more games than Brandon as well.

The Brandon Wheat Kings were without their captain Ryan Pulock (NYI 2013 1st) as they faced the Swift Current Broncos for the Central Division lead. Pulock (day to day) was sick and unable to play against the Broncos as they lost 4-3 in overtime. Brandon dropped out of 1st place in the Central Division and into 5th place in the WHL's Eastern Conference standings.
