The First Of Many

The Prospect Park Prospect of the Week

The games were just exhibition games but for us they were message senders about what to expect from Carl Hagelin of the Michigan Wolverines this season.

We already knew that the sophomore from Sweden was good defensively but now to see Hagelin showing even more offensive potential than last season's 11-11-22 is a great sign.

Hagelin had one goal and one assist against Waterloo on Saturday following one assist against the US NTDP Under-18 team on Friday. That might not seem like much but when you factor in leading a Michigan penalty killing unit that killed off all 12 power plays they faced.

To see Hagelin start to blossom into a dependable 2 way is good news for Ranger fans but even better for the fans of the 2nd ranked Michigan Wolverines.

Honorable Mention: Chris Doyle of Prince Edward Island who had 2 goals and an assist in 2 games and Micheal Del Zotto of the Oshawa Generals who had 3 assists in 3 games.

Injury Update

We talked with Dave Andjelic of the Medicine Hat Tigers regarding the status of Tomas Kundratek today and it is going to be a while before we get to see Kundratek in a Tiger uniform.

Kundratek is still wearing a cast and it looks like it will be a couple of weeks before Kundratek is given the OK to play. The Tigers are a good team without Kundratek and they think they will be even better when he finally gets into the lineup.

The Tigers have some high expectations for Kundratek but that goes with playing for a program like Medicine Hat where winning is a tradition.

Mid week action

Chris Doyle and his Prince Edward Island Rocket will hit the road for a game against the Saint Johns Sea Dogs in QMJHL. If one is looking for some free online hockey action to watch then may we recommend checking out the QMJHL website where the folks at Telus offer coverage right here.

Michael Del Zotto looks to extend his 5 game point streak as his Oshawa Generals travel to Belleville to take on the Bulls in OHL action. This should be a good matchup as the Bulls were one of last season's exciting Memorial Cup teams.
