It was Just Yesterday was it not?

I have to admit if you would have told me that Max Campbell would have been the first one to earn "Prospect of the Week" twice this season I would have called you crazy.

With prospects like Ryan Hillier, Tomas Zaborsky and our "Dean Prentice Prospect of the Month" Bobby Sanguinetti, it was very hard to picture this until now unknown 2007 5th round draft pick as one of the season's best players.

But the facts do not lie as the Western Michigan freshman is very much a impact player who has rightfully earned this honor by his play.

In our week in review, Campbell last Friday scored his 2nd goal of the season and then triggered a 4 goal comeback last Saturday with 2 assists. It was yet another remarkable performance for the native of Strathroy Ontario.

So far on the season Campbell is 2-3-5 in 9 games for the Broncos which is good for 2nd on the team in points, a tie for 1st in goals, 2nd in assists and 1 game winning goal. All of which is more than impressive for a freshman.

Let us congratulate Max for his 2nd award and we now know it will not be his last award.

Any other week and Carl Hagelin would have won the award as his game winner alone on Saturday against Nebraska-Omaha merited serious consideration. Fear not though as the Freshman at Michigan will be getting the Prospect Park Profile in the December issue of the Blueshirt Bulletin.

Game Action

David Skokan netted his 5th goal of the season an empty net goal to seal his Rimouski Oceanic's 3-1 win over the Quebec Remparts in Rimouski on Wednesday evening. The goal which came at 19:06 of the 3rd period is very much a sign about how important Skokan is to the Oceanic as witnessed to his being on the ice while his Oceanic were protecting a 2-1 lead.

Answering Questions

Yesterday Pierre asked some questions which I was not able to respond to yesterday but will now:

When do you think is the earliest we could see Bobby in a Ranger uniform? 2009-2010 season?

Sanguinetti has been making leaps and bounds in his development over the last couple of seasons and is currently playing for Stan Butler who has done a superior job in developing NHL caliber defensemen in his coaching career.

I would say Sanguinetti will be a Ranger regular in 09 but I do believe we will see him in the 2008-09 season at some point.

Also, is Alexei Cherepanov in contention for your weekly and monthly awards even though he's playing over in Europe?

I have to say at this point in time the answer is no he is not but I will explain why. For starters I simply have not been able to develop a reliable source of information in Russia that will provide an objective but most importantly a neutral game report on Cherepanov.

I do not think it is fair to read a report and say OK you win this week as with those in North America I can talk to those on the scene, watch the games myself and see a ton of tape on him. I also believe to make a judgment on a prospect you need to have 3 different looks at him under different circumstances.

If I can get those looks then yes I will be very happy to include Cherepanov but until I do then I would not be doing my job properly. Otherwise I would be very guilty of doing what others do which is close your eyes and toss a dart.

What about the youngsters on the Wolfpack? I'd like more updates on Anisimov's transition to the North American pro game, I'm just wondering if that's part of your coverage.

There is a person who offers way better coverage of the Hartford Wolfpack than I even dream of and his name is Bruce Berlet who covers the Pack for the Hartford Courant. I have been learning a lot about how to become a better writer from Bruce over the last couple of years so when it comes to the Wolfpack why settle for the 2nd string when you can have the first team all-star?
