Thanksgiving Prospects

While most took the Thanksgiving holiday off in the United States, there was some hockey played on the hockey to offer up a way to avoid the turkey sleep affect.

Luke Pither (Traverse City) scored his 19th goal of the season as his Barrie Colts won their 12th straight game 5-1 over the Owen Sound Attack. The Colts have points now in 14 straight games as they jumped passed the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors for first place in the OHL's Eastern Conference.

The Attack gave Scott Stajcer (2009 5th) the night off as the Colts out shot the Attack 48-29. It is doubtful that even with Stajcer in goal that the outcome would have been much different.

As for Pither, he now has points in 5 straight games (7-3-10) as he is 6th overall in OHL scoring at 19-18-37.

Mitch Gaulton (2008 6th) had a quiet offensive night but he and his defensive corp put on a very good show shutting down the Belleville Bulls 5-3. Do not let the score fool you as Belleville got credited for a goal at the final horn otherwise the Bulls were shut down.

Gaulton and the Otters outshot the Bulls 46-30 including an impressive 39-15 over the first 2 periods. The Otters also held the Belleville power play to an 0 for 4 evening.

Ryan Bourque (2009 3rd) was used as the main center again by his Quebec Remparts as they defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 2-1 in QMJHL action. The Remparts won which is the important part but we still do not believe center gets the best use out of Bourque.

Bourque was 7-11 on his faceoffs but only had 1 shot on goal and a -1 for the night.

From yesterday's action, Chris Doyle (2008 5th) had a goal and an assist as his Prince Edward Island Rocket defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 4-1 in Wednesday night action. For Doyle it was his 10th goal of the season and 2nd game winning goal.

Doyle is now 10-12-22 in the season as his goal gives the Ranger prospects 5 players with 10 or more goals in the same season. Ranger fans would have to go back to the 1990s to find that kind of scoring from their Ranger prospects.

Good stuff. Doyle just keeps scoring. I don't know what the Traverse City kids are getting listed above the ones under Ranger control, but at least they're clearly labelled.

Thanks Kalel9

Most nights the reports come in as game ends so I do not break them down once I get past the stars of the night.
Since the WHL tends to end last they wind up going first as I work my way back across North America.
The College kids will tend to go last cause their reports are the slowest to come in.

what's going on in Charlotte with Ranger prospects not sticking? Now Hillier is sent to Wheeling?

The person to ask that is Mitch Beck who covers the Wolf Pack/Checkers as I honestly do not know what is going on there
