Quick Hit for Monday

One of the reasons we enjoy hockey is that it is always a different day and you have to remain as humble as possible. You get to go from hero to goat to hero in the blink of an eye so the better hockey players tend to be the ones who remain grounded.

We bring this up because Mitch Gaulton had a great game the last time he played on Saturday with 2 assists and a +4. On Monday, Gaulton had a bad game as his Erie Otters were whipped by the Kitchener Rangers 6-1.

The Rangers struck for 4 goals in the first period but this game was over in barely 10 minutes as they scored 3 times in the first 10:12 of the period. Gaulton was on the ice for all 3 goals and never really recovered from this.

It was an ugly game for the entire Otter team and they had best not have many more of these ugly games if they plan on avoiding dropping to the 8th seed in the OHL's Western Conference. The 8th seed will most likely face the Windsor Spitfires in what is expected to be a 4 game sweep.

We wanted to share some video we found on Roman Horak's 3rd period play yesterday at the WHL website. We suggest that you watch in full screen mode to see the best of it.

If you missed yesterday's report Horak had a goal and an assist in Chilliwack's 5-1 win over Red Deer. One of the reasons we wanted to share this video is it gives you a very good chance to see Horak's faceoff skills in action.

Horak earned an assist when he won an offensive zone faceoff cleanly and it directly led to a goal.

Then you get to see Horak's defensive skills create a shorthanded breakaway that Horak scores on.

Enjoy it as it it right here courtesy of the WHL Website
