Halloween Gets Early Start

Halloween is supposed to be Sunday but for the New York Islander and New York Ranger prospects, Friday night was one strange night as very little was the way it was supposed to be.

The big story was the return of Nino Niederreiter to the Portland Winterhawk lineup the day after his being sent back by the Islanders. Sorry Nino did not have a big scoring night but got into a fight as it seems everyone did in the Portland Winterhawk/Kelowna Rocket game.

The real star of the night among the Islander prospects was Casey Cizikas of the Mississauga St. Micheal's Majors who had a 3 point night to lead the Majors to a 5-1 win over the Ranger prospect Ethan Werek's Kingston Frontenacs.

The Islander report can be found right here.

For the Ranger side of the story, it is fast becoming our mantra which is to sign Brandon Manning to the NHL contract that he is quickly proving he is deserving of. Let us count the ways Manning showed his value tonight for his Chilliwack Bruins.

A goal, 3 assists, and a fight which adds up to a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Toss in a +2 and a well deserved 2nd straight first star of the game as Chilliwack whipped the Calgary Hitmen 7-2 for their 4th straight win.

Manning has a 5-12-17 in just 10 games with points in 9 of the games. Yes we know we repeat it but an NHL contract is why he is not officially Ranger property.

Manning also earning the Yahoo 2nd Star of the night from Neate Sager of Buzzing the Net

Teammate Roman Horak had the 2nd star with a 2-1-3 night to move into a tie for the Ranger prospect scoring lead.

The Ranger report is on their page right here.
