Different Themes For Different Folks

Friday Night was one of those where we had several different storylines following the New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects. From "The forgotten ones" to "payback time" to "Hello my name is", this was a fun night to enjoy hockey all over North America.

We start with one of the "Forgotten Ones" as Max Campbell (2007 5th) had in our eyes his best night as a Ranger prospects which is saying a lot since we have been covering him for 4 seasons. Campbell had fallen off the prospect radar after a terrible junior season for his Western Michigan Broncos but his senior season has been a huge bounce back one for him.

Campbell's 6 goal of the season at 13:57 of the 3rd period broke a 2-2 tie as his Western Michigan Broncos upset 5th ranked Miami of Ohio 5-2. Campbell, the game's first star added 3 primary assists for a 4 point night as well as tie a career high set last January.

The Broncos as well as Campbell were not expected to do much this season under first year coach Jeff Blashill improved to 7-3-3. The rest of the Ranger prospect story can be found right here.

On the New York Islander side, there were several really good stories to come out on the day the Islanders finally ended their 14 game winless streak. When the smoke cleared it was Jason Gregoire (2007 3rd) with a 2 goal, 1 assist evening that wound up standing out as he led his 10th ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux to a 6-3 win over 11th ranked Notre Dame in the opener of the Subway Holiday Classic.

It was a solid all around game from Gregoire who earned first star of the game honors as the Fighting Sioux improved to 9-5-1. The Islander prospects actually were a lot of fun to watch on Friday night as we got to see the long awaited NCAA debut of 2010 7th round pick Cody Rosen.

The Islander prospect story is like we said a lot of fun so check it out right here.
