Not much in hockey to talk about for Monday because of the holiday but I have some New York Ranger and New York Islander related information to pass along. Found out from a friend who lives in Europe that if you are interested in following how the Swedish prospects are doing or wish to watch them play online then here is how you can.

Go to this website http://www.csports.se/cmore/?treeId=160002 to sign up for the online services for the Elitserien or as we in North America call it the Swedish Elite League. Judging from what the Google currency converter says then it will cost you 60 US dollars for the entire season.

There are currently four New York Ranger and one New York Islander prospects playing in Sweden.

Still I have to admit it is always interesting when I see a former NHLer playing there. Hey it is an option if and when the NHL starts their lockout.

Answers to questions

Are the 3 New York Islander prospects listed on the Niagara IceDog roster in camp because there has not been any word about them?

Checked with Wade Graham who is the Manager of Ticket Sales and Media Relations for the IceDogs today and he reports that forwards Ryan Strome (2011 1st), Mitchell Theoret (2011 7th) and defenseman Jesse Graham (2012 6th) are all in camp.

They just have not been used by the IceDogs in any of the exhibition games so far this season. All three will be in the IceDog lineup if the NHL does lockout their players on September 15th.

What about defensemen Adam Pelech (NYI 2012 3rd) and Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th)?

Sorry info on many of the prospects is at times hard to come by during the preseason but I was able to find out that Pelech has appeared in 1 game for his Erie Otters and Leduc the same for his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

In the event of a lockout what will happen to the prospects?

You can ask that question to every single coach in the 3 CHL leagues and you will get a wide variety of answers. The only thing most coaches I have talked with agree on is that those players who are 20 years old will get to attend AHL training camps.

Which NHL players will be allowed to play in the AHL during the lockout?

Best guess is anyone who is exempt from waivers will be allowed by the NHL to be sent to the AHL. I recommend that you check out CapGeek.com for the best explanation regarding how the waiver system works as well as their waiver calculator if you wish to check the status of an individual player.

Based on what information I have gotten using the CapGeek calculator then only Chris Kreider of the Rangers and for the Islanders; Nino Niederreiter, Casey Cizikas, Matt Donovan and Travis Hamonic of the Islanders.

Everyone else is subject to waivers and the NHL will not allow them to play in the AHL.
