Andrey Pedan (OHL Images) |
The Storm behind Pedan's 1-2-3 evening had little problem with the Greyhounds whipping them 7-1. Pedan the game's first star matched his single game personal best and he did it in style.
With the Storm already up 3-0, Pedan scored his 4th goal of the season on a point shot during a Storm power play at 18:24 of the 1st period. But in typical Pedan less than a minute later took a tripping minor for his 40th PIM (3rd in the OHL).
In the 2nd period after serving his minor, Pedan was out killing a penalty when he teamed with Brock McGinn to score a shorthanded goal to make it 5-0 for the Storm at 3:15. The goal was originally given to Pedan but it was later changed to McGinn with Pedan earning the only assist.
Still in the 2nd and the Storm again on the power play, Pedan earned his 3rd point of the game with a secondary assist at 9:38 to make it a 6-0 Storm lead. Pedan improves to 4-6-10 on the season and a 3 game scoring streak (2-4-6).
The Storm took over 1st place in the Western Conference with the win and are tied with the Barrie Colts for the best record in the OHL. And to their credit, the Storm did this during a 3 games in 3 nights stretch.
Pedan if he could play like this consistently would guarantee himself an NHL career. No questioning his talent level but rather the "loose cannon" mindset he often plays with.
If Pedan played with more self-discipline he would be a star but for now Pedan remains a question mark that you don't know which Pedan will show up from one day to the next.
Loic Leduc (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles) |
In Rimouski, Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th) did not score but he played a much better game then the other evening as his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defeated the Rimouski Oceanic 5-4.
Leduc was scoreless but a +2 as his Screaming Eagles won just their 3rd game of the season (3-7-2-2). Leduc like his team has been way too inconsistent to get a good read on.
You can see a skill set but there are several rough patches that Leduc needs to work on to take his game to the professional ranks.
