The 4 spot

Anthony Duclair (Quebec Remparts)
The Saturday night prospect report features 11 games involving New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects but one prospect Anthony Duclair simply stole the entire show with a 4 goal performance for his Quebec Remparts.

First Star Anthony Duclair Quebec Remparts

This season the New York Rangers really don't have much offense among their North American prospects. What little there is has been coming from Anthony Duclair (NYR 2013 3rd) of the Quebec Remparts and on Saturday, Duclair put on quite the show to earn the game's first star.

Ryan Graves and his Charlottetown Islanders had just scored at 1:09 to take a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period when Duclair went to work. First Duclair scored his 11th of the season at 2:53 to make it a 3-2 game on an even strength goal. Duclair would tie the game on his 12th goal which was also a power play goal at 13:08.

4:08 later at 17:16 Duclair would give his team the lead for good again with his 3rd straight goal for the natural hat trick. It was his 13th goal of the season and this too was on the power play giving him 6 on the season.

Quebec would add another goal to make it 5-3 before Duclair would finish off the Islanders with an empty net goal at 19:20. Goal number 14 for Duclair and a new single game career high for him as the Remparts win 6-3 to extend their unbeaten streak to 8 games (6-0-1-1).

Duclair is now 14-6-20 on the season, 14th overall in the QMJHL in scoring, 2nd in goals with 14 and 4th with 6 power play goals. For the game Duclair was 4-0-4 +2 on 6 shots and was 4-1 on face offs.

Loic Leduc (Cape Breton)
Second Star Loic Leduc Cape Breton

Forgive me as even I had to double check that Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th) earned the 2nd star but yes he sure did earn it with a 1-1-2 performance as his Cape Breton Screaming Eagle lost on a power play goal with just 5 seconds left in regulation 5-4 to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. A shame as it was Leduc who scoring his first goal since March 4th 2012 (59 games) was the one who tied the game at 4-4 at 18:10.

Leduc would earn the primary assist on Cape Breton's 2nd goal of the game at 7:39 of the 1st period but Cape Breton could not keep the lead. In fact the Drakkar would take the lead 4-3 on a goal in the middle of the 3rd period setting the stage for Leduc's goal. Leduc would cash in when he fired a shot that beat the Drakkar's goalie tying the game.

It was the 1st time Leduc recorded a multi-point game but his Screaming Eagles fell to 7-8-0-2.

Honorable Mention Adam Pelecg Erie Otters

Adam Pelech (NYI 2012 3rd) earned the game's 3rd star as his Erie Otters tied a team record with their 10th straight win 4-0 over the Peterborough Petes. Pelech would score the only goal that the Otters would need in the 2nd period when he fired a shot that beat the Pete's goalie.

It was the 4th straight game with a goal for Pelech as well as extending his scoring streak to 10 games 5-6-11. Pelech also gets credited for a game winning goal giving him back to back game winners and 3 overall. Pelech was also a +3 on the game.

The Rest of the Prospects

Pelech's teammate Ranger prospect Troy Donnay (2013 UFA) was scoreless and a +1 in the win for the Otters.

Ryan Graves (NYR 2013 4th)
was scoreless on 1 shot and 1 hit as his team lost to Anthony Duclair's Quebec Remparts.

Victor Crus-Rydberg (NYI 2013 5th)
would record a primary assist as his Plymouth Whalers would edge the Sarnia Sting 5-4. It was Crus-Rydberg's 10th assist of the season and 13th point.

Steven Fogarty (NYR 2011 3rd) and Robbie Russo (NYI 2011 4th) were both scoreless and a -3 as their 2nd ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish were spanked by Minnesota-Duluth 4-1. Notre Dame gave up 3 first period goals and that was the difference in the game.

Doyle Somerby (NYI 2012 5th)
recorded his 1st career NCAA point on a secondary assist but it was not enough as his 14th ranked Boston University would fall to Michigan State 3-1. The game was part of the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge and up until the final 5 minutes of regulation appeared to go Boston University's but 3 last goals by Michigan State did them in.

Ryan Pulock (NYI 2013 1st)
was scoreless as his Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 4-1 decision to the Tri-City Americans. The Wheat Kings are in the middle of a trip through the WHL's US Division and so far are 0-2.

Cristoval Nieves (NYR 2012 2nd)
and his 4th ranked Michigan Wolverines lost their 1st game of the season to the UMASS-Lowell River Hawks 2-1. Nieves was 1st line center but was scoreless on 2 shots which is not enough. This game was Michigan's 4th as part of the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge.

Griffin Reinhart (NYI 2012 1st)
was scoreless as his Edmonton Oil Kings saw their 3 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Swift Current Broncos. Would like to see Reinhart take charge of games like these especially when Edmonton loses a key player like they did in this one.

Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th)
was scoreless but took a slashing minor that the Prince Albert Raiders used to score a goal as they defeated Burrough's Regina Pats 3-1. It was Regina's 3rd straight loss.

Adam Tambellini (NYR 2013 3rd)
was scoreless on 1 shot as his 7th ranked North Dakota ????? defeated the USA's NTDP's Under-18 team 4-1 in an exhibition game. The game was played as part of the North Dakota Strong program.

Goalies Mackenzie Skapski (NYR 2013 6th) and Eamon McAdam (NYI 2013 3rd) were both the backup for their teams on Saturday night.
