The Erie Otters at it again

Just one New York Ranger prospect in action on Thursday evening and it was ironic that it was 6'7 defenseman Troy Donnay (2013 UFA). Ironic because Thursday was the New York Ranger debut for 2010 1st round draft pick 6'5 defenseman Dylan McIlrath and the saying goes that you can't teach size.

Donnay who the Rangers signed last summer is a stay at home defender playing on the hottest team in all of the Canadian juniors the Erie Otters. The Otters were on the road in Niagara Thursday looking to extend their current winning streak to 9 games.

The Otters were minus whiz kid Connor David and Adam Pelech (NYI 2012 3rd) who were in Toronto trying to earn spots on Hockey Canada's World Under-20 team but the Otters had little trouble defeating Niagara 7-2. Donnay who moved into the starting lineup to replace Pelech was scoreless with a +2 as the Otters just keep on winning.

The team with the best record in major junior hockey, the Otters at 28-4-1-0 57 points are now 9 points ahead of their nearest challenger the London Knights who also happen to be the hosts of the 2014 Memorial Cup. The Otters come back to Erie for a game Saturday evening before heading off on the holiday break.
