Their streak crashes to a halt

Well Sunday was not a very good day for New York sports fans or hockey prospects. Sure the Rangers earned a win but sorry I am not going to get excited over a shootout win over the Calgary Flames.

The prospects were not much better as if not for one prospect playing against another then odds are good that we would have seen a 0-4 day instead of 1-3. The Erie Otters must have read yesterday's entry as they played like they were already on vacation instead of my mistake in missing their game on the schedule.

Troy Donnay (NYR 2013 UFA)
and his Erie Otters saw their 10 game winning streak come to a crashing halt in Guelph on Sunday thanks to the Guelph Storm shutting the Otters down 5-0. To be fair to the Otters this was their 4th game in 4.5 days and their effort showed it. Guelph held the Otters to just 4 shots in the first period and sure the Otters were in the game in the first 2 periods on the scoreboard but that is misleading.

Guelph scored 3 goals in the 3rd as they held the Otters to just 7 shots and 21 overall. Donnay was scoreless of course to go along with a -2.

Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th)
and his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles got the better of Ryan Graves (NYR 2013 4th) and his Charlottetown Islanders 5-3. Leduc actually wound up setting up what would prove to be the game winning goal on his 5th assist and 8th point of the season. Leduc also was a physical presence on Sunday credited with 4 hits and a +1.

Graves also had an assist but his was a secondary one on Charlottetown's 1st goal of the game to go along with 5 shots on goal and 1 hit. For Graves the assist was his 7th of the season along with his 10th point.

Anthony Duclair (NYR 2013 3rd)
and his Quebec Remparts saw their 3 game winning streak halted by a 5-2 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Duclair was scoreless on 5 shots and a -2.
