Just one game on the prospect schedule Tuesday night as New York Ranger 2013 3rd round pick Adam Tambellini and his Calgary Hitmen hosted Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th) and his Regina Pats in a key WHL Eastern Conference matchup. Both the Hitmen and the Pats are fighting for division and conference playoff positioning making this game key for both teams.

The title of this post was a little bit of a dig to those who are looking at every game Tambellini plays in and measuring it as a good game only of Tambellini puts up points. Yes a lot was made of Tambellini saying he left North Dakota for more playing time but it is almost impossible to really fairly measure whether Tambellini made the right move or not.

In the meantime, the important thing isn't how many points Tambellini scores but rather are the points that he does score important to the outcome of the game he is playing in. A 2 assist night gets a nod yes when Tambellini also earns the game's 3 star as Tambellini's Calgary Hitmen used a 4 goal 2nd period to defeat the Regina Pats 5-1.

Tambellini had a secondary assist on Calgary's 1st goal of the game which was a power play goal that came late in the first period setting the stage for Calgary to turn the game into a bit of a laugh-er with their efforts in the 2nd period.

In the 2nd period it was Tambellini setting up Calgary's 3rd goal of the game with a primary assist and this game might as well had ended right there. For Tambellini the 2 assists improved his stats to 2-6-8 in the 6 games since joining the Hitmen back on January 8th.

The win also improved Calgary's lead over the Edmonton Oil Kings to 4 points as the current Eastern Conference leader holds 2 games in hand over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

As for Burroughs, in his case the less said about his evening the better as nothing went right for Burroughs in this game. It was Burroughs who took the "checking from behind" penalty that led to Calgary's 1st goal.

Burroughs was also a -3 for the game which considering that Calgary scored 3 goals at even strength does not require a picture. Regina missed out on a big chance to pass the Brandon Wheat Kings for first place in the WHL's Central Division but now the loss puts Regina a point behind but gives Brandon 2 games in hand.
