This One is Not Pretty

Saturday Night was not a night where any of the Ranger prospects stood out so in keeping with our standards we are not going to award any stars and will just report what happened.

We start in the QMJHL where Antoine Lafleur earned his 11th win of the season as his Prince Edward Island Rocket held off the Lewiston MAINEaics 4-3. The Rocket staked Lafleur to a 4-0 first period lead and then actually supported their goalie by limiting the MAINEaics to just 29 shots for the evening. Lafleur was credited with 26 saves while facing 10 legit scoring chances.

Ryan Hillier and his Halifax Mooseheads gave up double digits in goals for the second time in 8 days as they got smoked again this time 10-6 by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan . Hillier was scoreless and only made the scoresheet with a -1 and earning a 10 minute misconduct with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

In the OHL, Tomas Zaborsky was scoreless but his Saginaw Spirit scored 4 goals in the 3rd period to defeat the Erie Otters 5-1.

In the NCAAs, top ranked Miami and Carl Hagelin's 2nd ranked Michigan Wolverines skated to 5-5 overtime tie when Miami came back from down 2 goals in the 3rd period. It was a very chippy, very exciting game that could be a preview of the CCHA playoff finals and possibly the NCAA Frozen Four Final.

Hagelin was scoreless and thanks to the tie Michigan leaves this series in first place in the CCHA by one point.

Max Campbell extended his scoring streak to 5 games with an assist but it was too little too late as his Western Michigan Broncos lost to Lake Superior State 3-2. The Broncos spotted the Lakers a 3-0 lead and made a furious comeback scoring twice in the last 94 seconds of regulation to make it 3-2.

Campbell's assist came at 19:55 of the 3rd period and was his 14th on the season as he is now 3-4-7 during this scoring streak of his.

Jordan Foote and his Michigan Tech Huskies lost the MacInnes Cup given to the winner of the annual Winter Carnival as they lost 4-1 to the 11th ranked Wisconsin Badgers. It was a frustrating loss for the Huskies who had skated to a 1-1 tie with the Badgers on Friday. Foote was held scoreless

Finally in the USHL, Danny Hobbs saw his 3 game scoring streak come to an end while helping his Ohio Junior Bluejackets extend their team winning streak to 4 straight with a 3-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.

Sunday will see 4 Ranger prospects in action and as always we will have all the details.
