In a move caught most in the QMJHL off guard, the Prince Edward Island Rocket traded Chris Doyle (NYR 2008 5th) and Joel Champagne (Tor 2008 5th) to the Victoriaville Tigres in exchange for Jonathan Bonneau (90-07-10), Michael Ortika (93-05-24), a first, a third and a fourth round pick in 2010 and a second round pick in 2011.
Doyle who's season has been hampered by off-ice legal issues has to be happy with this move as he goes from PEI to the Tigres who have the 4th best overall record in the QMJHL.
Doyle who is 18-18-36 in our eyes needed this trade to jumpstart what has to be viewed as a underachieving season for him. Hopefully this will be the wakeup call Doyle needs to fuel a second half turnaround.
