Well it was just last week when we were worried about the health and status of Ryan Bourque (2009 3rd). Now we are wondering if he is about to go on a nice hot streak.
Bourque's 17th goal of the season at the 13:18 mark of the 3rd period gave his Quebec Remparts a 3-0 lead as they went on to defeat the Chicoutimi Saguenéens 3-1.
For Bourque, it was his 4 goal in his last 2 games after returning from his 2nd concussion of the season. Now while we are happy to see Bourque playing well there remains a serious concern over his health as we want Ryan to do great and help lead Quebec to a berth in the Memorial Cup.
But at the same time the last thing we want to see is Bourque suffer a 3rd concussion in this season as it just is not worth it. Hopefully Patrick Roy keeps him on a short leash to protect him from any further injury.
Still it was nice to see Bourque with a 4 shot, +2, and 2 good hit performance as on numbers alone; Bourque is having a good season at 17-23-40.
Carl Hagelin (2007 6th) was the other Ranger prospect in action on Tuesday evening as his Michigan Wolverines had an easy time over Bowling Green with a 4-0 win. Hagelin earned his 20th assist of the season on Michigan's 4th goal as he was credited with the secondary assist on the play.
With the assist Hagelin has his 3rd five game scoring streak of the season (1-5-6) as he is now 13-20-33 on the season. Hagelin is not on many people's radar to becoming a Ranger but we think that is a huge mistake to underestimate this young man.
We also would like to congratulate Michigan's Head Coach Red Berenson on winning his 690th game as a coach which puts him 6th on the all-time coaching list.
