Always Some Room Left For Some Hockey

Forget football as after we eat our Thanksgiving dinner and then had our post meal pie; we settled in to watch a couple of New York Islander prospects play some hockey. And they were kind enough to make sure not to ruin our meal.

Ryan Strome (2011 1st) scored his team (and Islander prospect) leading 14th goal of the season at 1:07 of the second period to get his Niagara IceDogs going as the IceDogs defeated the Brampton Battalion 6-1.

Strome also helped fellow Islander prospect Mitchell Theoret (2011 7th) break a 12 game pointless streak by setting Theoret up for Niagara's 3rd goal of the game also in the second period.

Strome now is 14-10-24 on the season after his 7th multi-point game of the season also took a couple of minor penalties in the game. For Mitchell Theoret, his 4th goal of the season was also his first point since October 20th.

Carl Hagelin

People are misunderstanding why we are not celebrating that Carl Hagelin (NYR 2007 6th) was recalled by the Rangers on Thanksgiving. See it is not that we are not happy about the recall but for us the celebrating begins when he gets activated and dressed to play.

Over the years we have seen many a prospect get recalled and not used in games by the Rangers only to be sent right back down without playing. We would be lying if we said it was a major letdown to see that happen so we wised up and learned to wait.

Carl Hagelin is someone who we said would play in the NHL back in 2008 (and yes we will say with a lot of pride that we were the first to say that) so we can wait until we see him wearing a Ranger's uniform to celebrate.

Trust us when that moment does happen (and we know it will) then we will be jumping up and down.
