Eww

Yikes Team USA got shutout by Sweden 4-0 at the USA Summer Evaluation Camp on Wednesday and there really isn't a whole lot of good to report from this game. The 2 New York Ranger prospects Brady Skjei and Cristoval "Boo" Nieves just looked like they were thinking too long about what they wanted to do. That led to them making bad decisions or just sloppy play something both players need to show a better focus on.

The Islander prospect Taylor Cammarata was just as bad and by the time the game got to the 3rd period I had to look to make sure he was on the bench because he wasn't used very much from the middle of the 2nd period on.

Disappointing effort by the local prospects and this is not how you leave the coaches with the kind of impression going into the season. Skjei is pretty much a lock unless he just blows up his game but Nieves and Cammarata need to have strong 1st halves in order to earn an invite to the December selection camp.

Canada finally got to get into game action as they defeated Finland 5-3 in the first of the three games that Canada will play at the camp. Islander 2013 1st round pick Ryan Pulock had a secondary assist on Canada's 1st goal of the game while 2012 2nd round pick Ville Pokka was held scoreless for Finland.

Portland Winterhawks players Nick Petan and Brendan Leipsic were both scoreless as Leipsic had a tripping minor. The 3rd member of the Winterhawks defenseman Derrick Pouliot did not play nor did Islander 2012 3rd round pick Adam Pelech.

Canada will face Sweden and the USA will take on Finland on Thursday.
