3rd period winning

Kyle Burroughs (Regina Pats)
Saturday night prospect hockey was about making plays in the 3rd period for the New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects. There was just 3 games on the schedule as the regular season is just getting underway for the 3 junior leagues.

Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th) had 2 secondary assists for his Regina Pats but the Pats let a 2-1 3rd period lead slip away against the Swift Current Broncos for a 3-2 loss in Swift Current. Burroughs recorded his assists while his Pats were on the power play but Swift Current's 3 goals all came on the power play.

Mackenzie Skapski (NYR 2013 6th) struggled for the 2nd night in a row in goal for the Kootenay Ice as the Ice lost to the Red Deer Rebels 6-3. Skapski gave up 5 goals in dropping his 2nd straight start on 40 shots.

Skapski was staked to a 2-0 first period lead but the Rebels answered back with 3 straight goals to grab a 3-2 lead in the second period. Kootenay got the goal back to tie the game up but in the 3rd period Skapski would allow 2 more goals with Red Deer adding an empty net goal to help send the Ice to their 2nd straight loss.

In Plymouth, Adam Pelech (NYI 2012 3rd) and Troy Donnay (NYR 2013 UFA) were both scoreless but their Erie Otters rallied for 2 goals in the 3rd period to earn a 2-1 win over Victor Crus-Rydberg (NYI 2013 5th) and his Plymouth Whalers. The win was the 1st of the season for the Otters while the Whalers fell to 0-2.

Crus-Rydberg was scoreless while Pelech had another minor to give him 4 in 2 games. Troy Donnay earned 17 PIMs when he went after the Whaler's Carter Sandlak for a check to the head that Sandlak was called on.
