Not so hapless

Loic Leduc (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles)
Just one game on the schedule for the New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects and it featured Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th) and his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The Screaming Eagles over the last few years have had the word hapless used when describing the efforts of the franchise. Over the last 3 seasons the Screaming Eagles have gone 55-133-5-11, nowhere close to the 500 mark and yes they have made the playoffs in 2 of those years only because while 16 teams make the QMJHL playoffs, the league hasn't had more than 18 teams.

So forgive some if they enjoy a rare 2 game winning streak from the Screaming Eagles after they held off the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for a 5-4 win that improved the Screaming Eagles record to 2-2-1-0 5 points. 5 points in 5 games for the Screaming Eagles and even better a win over one of the teams that are expected to contend for the QMJHL Championship no less.

And some credit has to be given to Leduc who is improved over the lumbering player he was last season. Leduc had the secondary assist on what proved to be the game winning goal in the 3rd period which put Cape Breton up 5-3 at the time. It was Leduc's first point of the season and his overall line for the night was 0-1-1, -1 on 2 shots with minors for high sticking and cross checking.

Cape Breton looks to make it 3 straight on Saturday night when they travel to face the Acadie-Bathhurst Titan.
