Shootout Sunday

Just 4 games on the prospect schedule Sunday with 3 of them being decided by the shootout for the New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects. Victor Crus-Rydberg (NYI 2013 5th) and his Plymouth Whalers were the only ones who came away with a win on Sunday as they defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 3-2 via the shootout.

Victor Crus-Rydberg has been the 1st line center for the Whalers and while he was scoreless in this game, we are seeing him being used in all situations by Plymouth coach Mike Vellucci. Crus-Rydberg had a minor for hooking and was Plymouth's first shooter in the shootout (he missed).

Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th) and his Niagara IceDogs fell to the Ottawa 67's 3-2 in the days only regulation game. A frustrating affair for the IceDogs who just cannot find a way to earn their first win of the season (0-3-1-0). Graham recorded his first assist of the season when he set up Anthony Difruscia for Niagara's 2nd goal of the game (a power play goal at 12:12 of the 1st).

Graham is 1-1-2 on the season.

Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th)
and his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles were looking to make it 4 straight wins when they took on the Rimouski Oceanic on Sunday. Unfortunately they have to settle for a 4 game unbeaten in regulation streak after losing 4-3 via the shootout.

Leduc was scoreless, a -1 with 1 hit for the game.

Ryan Graves (NYR 2013 4th) was the only Ranger prospect to see action and his game wasn't pretty to watch. He was not alone as his Charlottetown Islanders really only played 1 decent period to escape with a point as they dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Seriously if you took away the 2nd period then the Drakkar just dominated the Islanders but give the Islanders credit for scoring 4 goals in that period. But then trash them for allowing the Drakkar to score 4 goals in the 3rd period to force a tie and then earn the win.

Graves was scoreless on 3 shots and 2 hits.
