He came to play

Ryan Pulock (Brandon Wheat Kings)
It is always interesting to see how a prospect plays in his first game back after his first NHL training camp. You never know how the prospect is going to play as there is an adjustment that he has to make from lifestyle to the speed of the game. Gone are the chartered jets and top of the line hotels and back are the long bus rides and meals at Subways.

New York Islander 2013 first round pick Ryan Pulock made his return to the Brandon Wheat King's ling a very good one with a 2-2-4 first star of the game performance. The captain of the Wheat Kings, Pulock's 2nd goal of the game coming at 18:59 of the second period proved to be the game winner as Brandon edged the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3. In a game where all the offense came in the second period, Pulock put on quite the show.

First Pulock set up Tim McGauley for Brandon's first goal just 1:05 of the second period. It was a power play goal, the first of four power play goals for the Wheat Kings. 5:37 later at 6:42, Pulock made it 2-0 off his first WHL goal of the season. 2:26 after that at the 9:08 mark, Pulock earning his third point of the night setting up Jayce Hawryluk and a 3-0 Brandon lead.

Brandon could not hold the lead as Edmonton's Mitch Moroz potted a natural hat trick over a span of 2:32 to tie the game up setting up Pulock's 2nd goal and 4th point at 18:59. Pulock in 196 WHL games is 43-108-151.

The win improved Brandon's record to 3-2 on the season.

It may be early but for Ryan Graves (NYR 2013 4th) and his Charlottetown Islanders after their 5-3 win over the Gatineau Olympiques, they lead the QMJHL with a 6-0-0-1 record. The Islanders rallied from down 3-1 by scoring 4 times in the 3rd for the win.

Graves was scoreless on 3 shots, a +1 3 hits and 2 minor penalties. If it works then don't mess with it.

Tuesday action saw Anthony Duclair (NYR 2013 3rd) have his 5 game scoring streak snapped as his Quebec Remparts extended their winless streak to 3 games as they lost to the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-1. Duclair went 5-2-7 during his streak.
