Prospect Player of the Week

Since Thursdays are normally the off day for the CHL leagues I decided it will also be our day to honor the Ranger prospect who had the best week. Using this weekly honor I hope to include all of the Blueshirt Bulletin readers in naming the 2008 Blueshirt Bulletin Prospect of the Year.

We have just finished our first full week where all of the CHL league teams have been in action so without further ado the FIRST Prospect Park winner this season is Ryan Hillier (2005 3rd) of the Halifax Mooseheads.

By the numbers Hillier is off to a flying start going 4-3-7 (good for 7th in the QMJHL) in his first 4 games. His points are spread out with 2 shorthanded goals, 1 goal and 2 assists on the power play and 1 goal with 1 assist coming at even strength.

Those are the kinds of numbers you want to see from a star player and it appears that Hillier is planning on topping his career best of 32 goals from last season. I am already projecting that Hillier is capable of putting up at least 50 goals this season for his Mooseheads.

However it was not the numbers alone that earned Hillier this honor as it was being named one of the game's 3 stars in 3 straight games that did it. Hillier earned one First Star and two Second stars as his Mooseheads went 2-1 in this period.

Get used to seeing this picture folks as odds are very good that this is just the first of several Prospect Park Weekly Honors for Hillier. We have this feeling that we will be reporting a lot about the honors that Hillier earns this season.

Honorable Mention: Bobby Sanguinetti (3G 3A) of the Brampton Battalion (OHL) and Tomas Zaborsky (2G 1A) of the Saginaw Spirit (OHL)

Other News

The first regular season CHL Rankings are out and only Hillier's Mooseheads are ranked in the CHL Mosaik MasterCard Top 10 Rankings as the Mooseheads are ranked 8th. We expect to see Sanguinetti's Battalion to be here down the road as well.
