Thursday Night Quiet

It really is a strange night when 2 of your best offensive minded prospects make news because they did not score than for any other reason. That was the case Thursday night as Bobby Sanguinetti of Brampton and Tomas Zaborsky were in action but neither put a point on the board.

Sanguinetti's Battalion hosted Jared Staal (the youngest of the brothers) and his Sudbury Wolves and were generous hosts as they gave away the game 4-3 after jumping out to a 2-0 lead.

For Sanguinetti this was the first game this season where Sanguinetti did not register anything on the scoresheet. No points, no penalties and an even for the game.

Then we have Tomas Zaborsky as his Saginaw Spirit were on the road losing to the Peterborough Petes by the same 4-3 score.

The difference in this game was that the Spirit fell behind 4-1 and could not get that tying goal. As with Sanguinetti, this was Zaborsky's first game with nothing to show on the scoresheet.

It is safe to that tonight is a fluke happening as it is very doubtful that one will see either prospect shoot blanks again.

Belated Congrats

2 minutes to us for missing that 2006 6th round pick Eric Hunter (University of Alberta) was named Canada West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2007. Hunter earned the honors after coming off a 4 point weekend (3 goals, 1 assist) with a game winner.

We got to know Eric last season when he was with Prince George of the WHL and we are rooting for this hard working power forward.

Living for the Weekend

While others get to rest and relax on the weekends, it is our busy time and this weekend will be no different. For starters Friday night will be highlighted by the official debut of Max Campbell of Western Michigan and David Skokan with his Rimouski Oceanic visiting Antoine Lafleur and the Prince Edward Island.

In all on Friday there will be 11 prospects in action including Danny Hobbs of the Ohio Junior Bluejackets. The reason we mention Danny is because he along with fellow 7th rounder David Skokan of Rimouski just finished doing profiles for us that we will have in the November issue of the Blueshirt Bulletin.

Saturday and Sunday will also be full of action so stay with us as we will keep you updated on how the prospect did.
