Saturday Night Report

Star Of the Night

Only one player stood out this evening which is why we are only going to award one Star.

Danny Hobbs scored his 4th goal of the year at 6:53 of the 3rd period to help his Ohio Junior Bluejackets end a 6 game losing streak as they defeated the Lincoln Stars 1-0.

For Hobbs it has been a while since we have gotten a chance to talk about this young man who was the second of the Ranger's two 7th round picks in the 2007 Entry Draft.

It has been a frustrating season for both Hobbs and his JR. Bluejackets as they have been in most games only to come up on the short end of a one-goal game.

Lyon Messier son of Mark Messier had recently joined the Lincoln Stars after being cut by the Erie Otters of the OHL. Messier did not play bad as he adjusts to this new league.

The Rest of the Prospects

Tomas Zaborsky had an assist but was a -1 as his Saginaw Spirit dropped a 3-1 decision to the Peterborough Petes in a fight filled affair that had 106 minutes in PIMs handed out.

Antoine Lafleur struggled once again giving up 6 goals on 34 shots as his Prince Edward Island Rocket lost 6-2 to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Eric Hunter did not score but his University of Alberta Golden Bears defeated the University of British Columbia 6-2 to earn the weekend sweep.

Max Campbell or his Western Michigan Broncos did not score as they were shut out by Ohio State 3-0.

Carl Hagelin also did not score but his 2nd ranked Michigan Wolverines whipped Minnesota 5-1 to go 13-1 on the season.
