The Saturday Report

Our Star of the Night

With just a day remaining until the holiday break, Tomas Zaborsky of the Saginaw Spirit wanted to let people know he is not to be forgotten.

With Zaborsky setting up the game winner while adding his 17th goal of the season, his Spirit had little trouble defeating the London Knights 7-2.

For Zaborsky this makes him 17-17-34 after 31 games putting him on a pace to wind up 38-38-76 which would be a huge leap from last season's 19-24-43.

Ryan Hillier and his Halifax Mooseheads are going to be happy that the Holiday Break is coming. They have been struggling as of late and Saturday night was no different as the Mooseheads dropped their 5th straight.

Dropping a 5-2 decision to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles is more than likely going to result in the Mooseheads dropping out of CHL weekly top 10 when the polls are released. At one time the Mooseheads had the best record in the QMJHL but now find themselves 6th in the league.

For Hillier, he had an assist in the losing effort but it was not enough. Hillier is still having an impressive season at 20-21-41.

Antoine Lafleur played all of the final 4 seconds as his Prince Edward Island Rocket edged the Quebec Remparts 5-4. We will not pass any judgment about sending Lafleur out at that point in time. We still however believe Lafleur needs to be traded so he can have a fresh start.

Jordan Foote also was scoreless as his Michigan Tech Huskies dropped a 2-0 decision to the Northern Michigan Wildcats as they head to their holiday break. It has been a very frustrating first half of the season for Michigan Tech as they are in many ways like the Rangers simply unable to score and it has cost them games.

Danny Hobbs was not in the Ohio Junior Bluejacket lineup on Saturday for reasons unknown at press time. His Junior Bluejackets lost to the Omaha Lancers 7-3.

There will be plenty of action on Sunday so stay with us.

Hobbs played Friday night against the Lancers, but was listed as an injured scratch on the line chart for Saturday's game. The nature of the injury was not listed on the line chart.
