Prospect of the Week

His play against the Owen Sound Attack on Wednesday night not withstanding, Tomas Zaborsky still earned our player of the week award for his efforts last week.

Let us get the current action out of the way as Zaborsky and his Saginaw Spirit traveled to Owen Sound and lost to the Attack 4-2.

Zaborsky was held scoreless and was a -2 for his efforts. Like we said it was not one of his better efforts but it has no bearing on why Zaborsky was named Prospect of the Week.

We start by mentioning his totals for the week that ended on this past Sunday which was 2-3-5 +6 along with a first star of the game award. Those numbers included a 2-2-4 game last Saturday night against the Saute St. Marie Greyhounds.

It was Zaborsky's best game of the season as it pushed Zaborsky's totals for the season to a OHL career best 2424-48 which as we keep mentioning is now good for second among Ranger prospects behind Ryan Hillier.

Zaborsky has been scoring at a consistent basis helping his Saginaw Spirit move up in the OHL Western Conference as they are currently 7th in what was supposed to be a rebuilding season for the Spirit. Zaborsky is making sure they are rebuilding in a hurry.

Ryan Hillier of the Halifax Mooseheads was the other prospect who merited consideration for the Prospect of the Week as he went 3-2-5 for the week. Like Zaborsky, Hillier had a 4 point game last Saturday but the difference maker was that in the next game both played. Zaborsky had a goal while Hillier went scoreless.

Thursday Bobby Sanguinetti is in action along with his Brampton Battalion and we will be trying to see if we can contact Greg Beller to find out about his situation with Yale.
