IIHF to investigate the transfers of six players
The International Ice Hockey Federation informed the NHL, the NHLPA and the Russian KHL that the international transfer of six players are officially under investigation.
The six players involved are:
- Alexander Radulov
- Nikita Filatov
- Thomas Mojzis
- Jason Krog
- Fedor Fedorov
- Viktor Tihonov
Until this investigation has come to its final conclusion and the IIHF has rendered its decisions, all concerned players will be suspended from international transfers and competitions. All decisions will be made in the framework of the national legislation applicable for each player’s contract. The IIHF has requested that all involved parties submit all relevant documentation to the IIHF office by Thursday, July 31, 2008.
The six players are all involved in trades to, or from, the Russian KHL.
“We hope that this can be resolved amicably and in a timely manner,” said IIHF President Rene Fasel. “It is unfortunate that we are already facing such difficulties after the progress that was made last week. I am hoping that all sides can come to a solution.”

At that meeting the parties are committed to respect contracts and not to sign players who are under contractual obligations. A joint working group was established which will have the mandate to draft a document that will specify the terms of such an agreement, including the handling of possible disagreements regarding the validity of contracts.
