It was Back to School night for New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects on Friday as all of the stars were prospects who played in the NCAAs. It was a very good showing for some of the prospects as other than Carl Hagelin, each of our stars helped lead his team win.
For the Rangers, Carl Hagelin (2007 6th) plays well even though on Friday nights his 7th ranked Michigan Wolverines never do. Michigan over the last 2 seasons like to play their worst hockey on Fridays nights as this season they are (after tonight) 2-5-2.
If you want to talk about a prospects who has rebuilt his NHL hopes then it is Max Campbell. Everyone (including us) wrote Campbell off when he
It is the 2nd half of the season so of course that means Chris Kreider is starting to score goals too as he did for his 3rd ranked Boston College Eagles. And for a change we have enough Ranger news so you can find the Ranger report right here.
On the New York Islander side, Brock Nelson (2009 1st) came back from his time with Team USA with more jump to his game as the North Dakota freshman doubled his season goal output with his first 2 goal game of his NCAA career to lead 2nd ranked North Dakota to an easy 8-0 win over Robert Morris.
Anders Lee (2009 6th) continued his own outstanding season celebrating being name Hockey Commissioner's Association "Rookie of the Month for December" by scoring his 13th goal of the season (and eventual game winner) as his 12th ranked Notre Dame blew out Northern Michigan 8-1.
Blake Kessel (2007 6th) made it a hat trick for Islander NCAA prospects when his 4th goal of the season was also a game winner as his 4th ranked New Hampshire Wildcats stopped UMass-Lowell 5-2.
The Islander report can be found right here as it is a good one.
