Short but not sweet

Just 2 games on the schedule for Thursday evening and neither had a happy result for the Ranger and Islander prospects playing in them. First Troy Donnay (NYR 2013 UFA) and Adam Pelech (NYI 2012 3rd) saw their Erie Otters shut out for just the 3rd time this season as they were beaten 2-0 by the North Bay Battalion.

Give the Battalion the credit as they held the high powered Erie offense to just 19 shots for the game and deserved this win. Erie remains 3 points behind Guelph for the top spot in the OHL's Western Conference with Guelph now holding a game in hand.

Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th) and his Saginaw Spirit lost to the Peterborough Petes 5-2. Graham was scoreless but was on the ice for 4 of the 5 goals the Petes scored. Burn the tape.

Just a Thought

The OHL announced that they were going to improve the player benefit packages given out to their players. Among those improvements are monies for off-season training, expense money to help cover the costs of gas and cell phones as well as changes to how much time a player has to use their college scholarship monies.

Now I am very happy to see the players getting treated better but boy if I am a fan of the Portland Winterhawks then I am just waiting for the WHL to improve their player packages. Last year doing some of these very things led to Portland being sanctioned like no other team in the CHL had been punished before with.
