Brennan Othmann's Two Goal Night Leads Firebirds Win

Brennan Othmann earned the game's first star with a 2-1-3 effort as his Flint Firebirds knocked off the Erie Otters 6-2. Othmann was the key to the win as he led by example scoring the game's first goal at 3:59 of the first period. 

The goal was made possible when teammate Braeden Kresseler one-handed a pass over to Othmann for a one-timer and a 1-0 lead for the Firebirds. Still, in the first period, it was Othmann who set up the second goal for his team as he set up Sahil Panwar to make it a 2-0 lead at 11:39 and that was how the first period would end.

In the second period after Otters had cut the lead to 2-1, the Firebirds would make it a 3-1, and that is how the second-period end,. In the third, it would be Flint putting the game out of reach. after a Flint, goal to make it 4-1, Othmann would get his second, a power-play goal to make it 5-2 at 11:32 of the third period.

The Rangers 2021 first-round pick was 2-1-3  on six shots with a +1 and a minor for "check to the head". For the season, Othmann is 10-6-16 after 12games.


Simon Kjellberg has a secondary assist as his Rensselaer Engineers overwhelmed an outclassed Long Island Sharks team 7-2. Kjellberg improves to 2-7-9 on the season after a 0-1-1 +1 night.

Jayden Grubbe was scoreless on one shot with a +1  while going 14-5 on his faceoffs as his Red Deer Rebels shut out the Calgary Hitmen 2-0.

Brett Berard had a primary assist as his 10th-ranked Providence Friars escaped from Vermont with a 4-3 win. Berard set up the first of three power-play goals that the Friars scored in the second period to tie the game at 3-3 after two periods. 

The Friars would score the game-winner in the third period to earn the win. Berard was 0-1-1 on three shots with a -1 to improve his season totals to 8-6-14 after 14 goals.

Hank Kempf earned a secondary assist as his ninth-ranked Cornell "Big Red" earned a 3-2 overtime win over Brown. Kempf is 0-4-4 on the season as he has played just seven games.

Matt Rempe was scoreless as his Seattle Thunderbirds came from behind to defeat the Spokane Chiefs 4-5-3. Rempe was credited with two shots and was a -2 with a 12-7 record on his faceoffs. 

Evan Vierling and his Barrie Colts were shut out 3-0 by the Mississauga Steelheads 3-0. Vierling was credited with three shots, was penalized for hooking in the first period, and was 7-4 on his faceoffs.

Ryder Korczak was scoreless on one shot with a -3 and was 4-5 on faceoffs as his Moose Jaw Warriors dropped a 4-2 decision to the Brandon Wheat Kings. 

Tayln Boyko got the start for his Kelowna Rockets as they faced the Portland Winterhawks but he never made it to the finish. Boyko was pulled after giving up five goals on 18 shots. To be someone what fair the Rockets didn't start playing until Boyko was pulled.

Kelowna rallied to tie the game at 5-5 to force overtime and then a shootout before falling 6-5.
