Monday Update

A quiet Monday with only Bobby Sanguinetti in action as his Brampton Battalion took hosted the Niagara IceDogs. The IceDogs scored 4 goals in a span of 3:45 in the second period to grab a 5-2 lead and then held off Sanguinetti's Battalion 5-4.

Sanguinetti scored his 7th goal of the season to give him 12 points in just 6 games (7-5-12) but it was not enough to help the Troop overcome their mistakes which cost them this game.

Men's College Hockey Poll

When it comes to the NCAA Division 1 Men's hockey there are 2 weekly polls. There is the USCHO.com/CSTV poll which almost always mirrors the other poll which is the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Nothing against the USCHO.com/CSTV poll but I tried to see who voted on that poll and could not find out the information without jumping though a bunch of hoops. CSTV is a channel I do know because they have been covering college hockey since the day they went on the air. I appreciate that they show both the big name schools and the little guys.

The USA Today/ USA Hockey Magazine poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. Both Coaches and the Hockey Media are a part of this poll.

Because of knowing who is voting in which poll and my own personal belief that too many polls can be confusing I decided to use the USA Today/ USA Hockey Magazine as the poll used by Prospect Park for ranking purposes.

So for this week here is how the poll looks:

To break it down for Ranger related players then Michigan with Carl Hagelin is 9th and Maine with Billy Ryan is 15th. Also receiving votes was Jordan Foote's Michigan Tech.

A Look Ahead

Carl Hagelin and his Michigan Wolverines are going to get a HUGE test this Friday night as they face number 2 Boston College at the Ice Breaker Invitational. If you get FSN North you can watch the game starting at 4:30 EDT.

Jordan Foote and Michigan Tech will play Friday against Northern Michigan and Sunday against Lake Superior State (televised LIVE on ESPNU at 5:30)

Finally we are going to get our first look at 2007 5th Round pick Max Campbell as he makes his college debut with Western Michigan. Kind of feel sorry for Max as it will be tough for him to top Carl Hagelin's debut.

Since the Ranger play the Islanders on Wed we will move up the PPP to tomorrow
