Brennann Othmann (Todd Boone/Flint Firebirds) |
It is what is going to help Othmann become a star when he comes to the Rangers. Star players are the ones who want to have the puck, they don't just talk to the media after the game, they make their statements during the game. Like in overtime with a chance to win a game, that is why I think Brennan Othman is going to be special
Brennan Othmann's power-play goal at 2:56 of overtime capped a wild 8-7 win for his Flint Firebirds over the Kitchener Rangers. It was Othmann's 31st goal of the season, his eighth power-play goal, and his fourth game-winning goal but the only goal Othmann scored in this game.
This game was one of those where if you blinked then odds have you missed a score, the two teams combined for 15 goals on 76 shots as nobody played defense in this one. Othmann had a primary assist on Flint's third goal of the game coming at 1:30 of the second period or 17 seconds after their second goal.
The first period saw three combined goals, the second had eight combined and the third saw three more before Othmann's game-winner.
Here is the game-winner:

Othmann's stats for the night look like this: 1-1-2, three shots with a -1 and 1-0 on faceoffs. Overall Othmann is 31-28-59 in 39 games, he is third in the OHL in goals, seventh in points, and 11th in power-play goals.
The thing about streaks is that they are always going to come to an end but pretty sure that Dylan Garand and his Kamloops Blazers did not want their nine-game winning streak to end by losing to the Tri-City Americans. The Americans came into this game on a six-game losing streak and so they ended that streak by handing the Blazers a 4-3 loss.
Garand saw a personal seven-game winning streak end, stopped 23 out of 26 shots as he had a night that he would like a "do-over". The Kamloops goalie never looked sharp or comfortable in goal for this game.
Garand falls to 24-7 on the season with a 2.00 goals against and a 0.924 save percentage. He still leads the WHL in wins and goals-against while is second in save percentage.
Ryder Korczak and his Moose Jaw Warriors saw their eight-game winning streak ended by the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1. Korczak was scoreless on four shots with a hooking minor and was 10-7 on his faceoffs.
