Will Cuylle and his Windsor Spitfires may have won the battle for game one against the Kitchener Rangers 6-5 but the Rangers showed that they don't plan on going quietly. The Windsor captain earned two assists in the win to go along with a +4 on four shots while going 3-3 on faceoffs.
Kitchener scored the only goal in the first period and Windsor responded with three goals in the second. Cuylle earned a secondary assist on Windsor's second goal of the game for his second assist and seventh point.
Kitchener would rally to tie the game early in the third period and after Windsor regained the lead at 4-3, Cuylle would earn his second point of the night when he set up Alex Christopoulos' hat trick goal at 8:34 of the third period and a 5-3 Windsor lead.
Cullye is now 5-3-8 with a +10 after seven playoff games. Windsor takes a 1-0 series lead with game two on Sunday in Windsor.
It wasn't a perfect game but Dylan Garand made the saves when his Kamloops Blazers needed them the most in game two of their playoff series with the Vancouver Giants. Garand stopped 23 out of 26 shots to help his Blazers hold off the Giants 4-3 and take a 2-0 series lead.
Garand did however come up with the WHL's "Save Of The Night" as he showed off a glove hand.

The Blazers goalie gave up two goals in the first on ten shots faced. Another goal in the second on only eight shots face before shutting out the Giants in the third facing eight more shots. The third period stood out the most because Kamloops started the period down two players due to penalties.
In fact, this game was pretty much dominated by the number of power plays as both teams combined for 14 of them. Garand stopped the Giants on the five power plays they had but Kamloops wasn't able to take advantage of the nine power plays they were given.
The Kamloops goalie is now 6-0 with a 1.17 goals against and a 0.954 save percentage. Hartford Wolfpack fans are looking at next year's starting goalie for their team in Garand.
Game three of this series will be played Monday night in Vancouver.
If the referees called too many penalties in the Vancouver/Kamloops game then the Seattle Thunderbirds were thinking that they didn't call enough on the Portland Winterhawks. The Winterhawks were called for just one penalty as they earned a 4-2 win over the Thunderbirds.
Matthew Rempe scored his fourth goal in five playoff games in the loss which is nice but the Winterhawks were able to limit him to just one shot. He was also a -1 and was 4-6 on his faceoffs but it is becoming really clear that any NHL future will be as a right wing.
And for heaven's sake can the Thunderbirds and WHL please find a better nickname for Rempe besides "Ranger Rempe". Here is his goal from the game

The Winterhawks grab a 1-0 series lead with game two scheduled for Sunday evening in Portland.
Jayden Grubbe and his Red Deer Rebels got shut out by the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-0 in game two of their WHL playoff series and trail 2-0 in the series. The Rebels were in the game for the first period but weren't able to solve Edmonton's goalie Sebastian Cossa.
Grubbe was 15-7 on his faceoffs but only took one shot, something he has to be more active on. The Rebels head back to Red Deer for game three on Monday but this series doesn't look like it will go more than four games.
Ryder Korczak and his Moose Jaw Warriors were just no match for the Winnipeg Ice in game two. The Warriors were blown out 7-0 to give the Ice a 2-0 series lead.
Korczak was a -2 on two shots with an "unsportsmanlike conduct" minor and 7-7 on faceoffs. The series now shifts to Moose Jaw where the Warriors need to at least look competitive as they get swept out.
